Denmark
In Denmark, joking letters called gaekkebrev are given to admirers. These letters typically include a poem or rhyme and are written on intricately cut paper designed like a snowflake. Instead of signing their name, the sender will use a code to give a hint at their identity: they replace each letter of their name with a dot.

El Salvador
Valentine’s Day in El Salvador is knowns as Love and Friendship Day, and a special game called Amigo Secreto (“Secret Friend”) is played. Similar to White Elephant, each player draws names. They take turns describing one trait they like about the person they chose, and everyone has to guess who it is about.
